DOWN Definitions: soft fine feather forming the covering of a young bird; moving towards a lower place or position; unhappy
DOWN involves the pain-staking cutting up and crafting of 12,000 individual paper feathers carved from dis-used UK ordinance survey maps from the 1970s enhanced by a new electroacoustic musical score. A striking and highly original installation work. We are grateful to Arts Council England and METALCulture for their support.
DOWN is a new installation commissioned by METAL, Liverpool for the 2010 Liverpool Biennial supported by Arts Council England. It will open on 15th September and run until 23rd October. DOWN is a new collaboration between English Visual Artist Nicola Dale and Irish Composer Ailis Ni Riain.
METAL is based at Edge Hill Train Station. Regular trains run from Manchester (45 mins) and Liverpool (6 mins). Free. Open Tues- Fri 2-6pm, Sat 12-4pm
